How is Your Passion for God?

FRIDAY
NOV. 9

Proverbs 27:7 (GNB, CEV, Living Bible), Jer.15:16 (Living Bible)
When you are full, you will refuse honey, but when you are hungry, even bitter food tastes sweet. *If you have had enough to eat, honey doesn't taste good, but if you are really hungry, you will eat anything. *Even honey seems tasteless to a man who is full; but if he is hungry, he'll eat anything! *Your words are what sustain me; they are food to my hungry soul. They bring joy to my sorrowing heart and delight me. How proud I am to bear your name, O Lord.

Author PhotoHow glad are you when it is time to fellowship with God and with other believers? How passionate are you to pray unto God, to study His word and to grow in your knowledge and understanding of Christ (Phil.3:10-14) and all He has done for you? How passionate are you to manifest God's life and power and do the greater works (John 14:12) that Jesus said you would surely do? Your hunger for each of these things will determine how much of yourself you willingly devote to them and the extent to which will be blessed and impacted by them. Proverbs 4:20-22 (NLT) says, “My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. Don't lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.” There's a dimension of God's life that is stirred up in you every time you search, find and study God's word for yourself. This life affects your entire being.

Value and search out God's word like someone seeking a great treasure. The Bible says, like new born babes, desire the sincere milk of the word that you may grow thereby, 1Pet.2:2. One major key to continuous spiritually growth is not losing your passion and desire for God's word and spiritual things. Many issues in your life will change as you grow spiritually because you will know God better and be able to walk in greater dimensions of your inheritance in Him, Acts 20:32. Let your desire to grow spiritually exceed the distractions from your friends, social media, television and other sources.

PRAYER FOCUS: Tell God how much you desire to know Him and grow spiritually. Receive His grace not to allow anything to distract you.
