You Will Not Be Deceived

   WEDNESDAY
    NOV. 7

Luke 4:3-4, 9-10 (NKJV)
And the devil said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread." But Jesus answered him, saying,"It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God'."*Then he brought Him to Jerusalem, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here. For it is written: 'He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you.'

Author1 PhotoNo one is above temptation, but in the same way that Jesus consistently overcame, you also will continually triumph because of the same overcoming life of Jesus that is in you. After the devil heard Jesus quote the scriptures to overcome him, the devil adjusted his strategy and began to use the scriptures also. But even the devil's quoting of scriptures did not deceive Jesus. Jesus discerned that the devil's spirit and motive were not right and that the devil was twisting scriptures in an effort to deceive Jesus for his selfish gain. The devil will also try to twist scriptures to deceive you, but as you grow in your study of God's word, the Spirit of God will help you to always discern and rightly apply that word to your life, 2Tim.2:15. You will not be deceived by the devil; regardless of whether he tries to come into your mind or through a false preacher or prophet.

1John 4:1-3 reveals that God wants us to test all spirits to be sure they align with Christ because there are many false prophets in the world today. It is only when you can recognise the original that you can identify the counterfeit. Your deep and real personal encounter with Jesus by the help of His Spirit is what strengthens your ability to discern truth from error. By the unction of the Spirit, you know all things, 1John 2:20. 1 John 2:27 (NKJV) declares, ... the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. You will know and walk in the truth always.

PRAYER: I thank You, Lord, for your Spirit that is continually guiding and teaching me Your Word. Your truth is prevailing in my life.
