God Promises He Will Raise Us to Sit in Heavenly Places - (Ephesians 2:5-6)
Bible Promise
I have raised you up with Christ to sit in heavenly places.

Verse Text
Even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

Reading Notes
Prior to our salvation, we were spiritually dead and as such we were unable to raise ourselves. Because of our sin, we were unable to make ourselves alive to God and therefore unable to save ourselves and earn our own way into Heaven. In other words, because of our fallen nature, no one can bring about their own salvation. However, God had mercy on us and while we were yet sinners. While we were still at enmity with Him, dead in our trespasses and sins. He made us alive through Christ Jesus our Lord. God sent His Holy Spirit who did a work in our hearts, which allowed us to hear and understand the Gospel message of salvation and respond to His free gift of grace. Not only has God made us alive in Christ, but He has indwelt each and every believer with the Holy Spirit. God has also energized us through His Holy Spirit in every aspect of Christian living. Therefore, through God's power working in us, we can accomplish God's will in our lives if we submit to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

God does this through the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. The Holy Spirit first changes our hearts in order for us to hear, understand and respond to the message of God's grace and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, believing He is who He claimed to be, that is fully God and fully man. Then, with our salvation comes the indwelling of the Holy Spirit who begins the process of spiritual growth carried out in us by God. This growth process is called sanctification. And it's through the process of sanctification that we become mature followers of Christ and effective for the kingdom of God. In addition, when our race here has been run and we go to be home with the Lord, God is not finished with us yet. Because of what Jesus did for us, God will raise us up to sit with Him in the heavenly places. There we will live with Christ for all eternity and serve Him forevermore. Moreover, we will return with Him at the end of this age to serve Him in His kingdom. We must never forget, not only will we see Jesus face to face and experience Heaven, but we will also return with Him and witness the new heavens and new earth.
