YOU ARE A SERVANT
TEXT: COLOSSIANS 3:22
BIBLE TEXT:
“Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eye-service, as men- pleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God” (Colossians 3:22).
A servant is a person who serves another; one who is under the authority of another. There are domestic servants who serve in homes; there are civil or public servants who serve in government offices, servants of God such as pastors, etc. As a good servant, one is expected to do one’s work well, with little or no supervision. A servant should be obedient, faithful and diligent. “Those who are always looking for an opportunity for rest and recreation are not worthy of being called God’s servants. God’s servants cannot adopt a lazy living,” says Watchman Nee. Actually, all Christians are God’s servants, whether a school prefect or teacher; a fellowship leader or member, or a medical doctor or patient. God’s word says, “…by love serve one another” (Galatians 5:13). Even Christ tells those who are masters or occupy chief positions to see themselves as servants. (Matthew 20:26, 27). It takes being born again to have this attitude of a servant. Have you surrendered your life to Christ? If you have, then your service should be with the fear of God and not ‘eye-service.’

Challenge: Live for others: have a servant heart!
Prayer: Lord, I want to be your servant, make me worthy to serve.
Quote: All Christians are God’s servants.
