My God Why Have You Forsaken Me? I Daily Walk Devotion
I think it is safe to say that the number one fear people have today is being alone. That tops the fear of heights and speaking in front of people. To be forsaken, which means left alone by ourselves, can be devastating. It was devastating when Jesus was left alone on the Cross. That’s why he cried out, “My God, why have you forsaken me?”

Matthew 27:46
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

The Darkest Hour
The darkest hour in history was when God turned His back on His Son, the moment the sin of humanity was placed upon Jesus. Why did the Father turn away from His Son? Because God is holy and He cannot be where unrighteousness resides. He wasn’t ashamed of HIs Son. He willingly sent Him to the Cross out of His deep love for us. For Jesus to bear the full burden of our sins, He had to do it alone.

My God Why Have You Forsaken Me?
It was this hour that Jesus dreaded the most. It was what made Him sweat droplets of blood in the garden as He asked His Father to take this cup from Him. Jesus had never known separation from His Father, and it was his greatest pain of all. To be forsaken as He became the perfect sacrifice to appease, God’s wrath broke Him the most. The fellowship He had with His Father was most sacred.

You’re Not Alone
There will be times in your life where you will feel forsaken by everyone around you. It will be painful and appear hopeless, but let me assure you that you are not alone. Jesus was forsaken so that we don’t have to be. Even if every human on earth desserts you, Jesus doesn’t. He tells us that He will never leave you nor forsake you. The great about this is that His strength is enough. Romans 14:4 says, “And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand.” Look to Jesus.
