Overcoming Fear I Daily Walk Devotion

There are a lot of people today who are gripped with fear. The list of things that causes fear is long. How do you handle the emotions and continue to function when you are afraid to go outside your house? The Apostle John gives you the key to overcoming fear. The one who has overcome the world resides inside of you.

‭‭1 John‬ ‭4:4

“You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.”

Little Children

The Apostle John’s favorite term for Christians was “little children.” It was his affectionate way of encouraging them to follow Jesus. He also knew that young believers were easily scared when attacks from the enemy came, so he reminds them that they are from God and have overcome the world because Jesus is in them. You may not realize this, but He that is in you is greater than anything this world can throw at you.

Saved Us from the World

Never forget that Jesus resides in you. The one who created the world and then came and saved it from hell dwells in your heart and is doing a good work. Philippians 1:9 says, “He who began a good work in you will complete it until the end of days.” It’s not a one time work, but day in and day out, Jesus is working in your life. It may be subtle, but you will realize the growth if you look back over the last few years.

Overcoming Fear

Walk in the confidence that the Almighty God who has overcome the world has your back. When Jesus died on the cross, he defeated the power of sin and took authority back from Satan. There is no need to fear because you have been given a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. Focus on growing in your faith and leave your protection up to the one who has already conquered.
